Food Plan 110109

I'm sick of going to multiple stores multiple times during the week. This month, I'm putting a stop to it. Starting today. Also, since I don't count how much money I spend on lunch at work, I'm going to tally that as well. Maybe then I'll get a clue and remember to bring lunch to work regularly.

Yesterday I made a food plan and grocery list.

Here's what I'm planning on making:

  • Pernil in the crockpot and arroz con gandules (a bit of crossover from end of last week)
  • chicken wings and cole slaw
  • Saffron chicken and saffron rice
  • pork chops, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and apple sauce (from Rodney's wish list)
This is what I bought (foodwise) in 3, no 4, stops and some items aren't required for this weeks meals:

Costco:

  • vanilla soymilk: $12.79/12 quarts
  • ground beef: $14.72/5.91 lbs
  • tortilla chips: $3.09/48 oz
  • tuna: $23.98/16 7-oz cans
  • mayo: $6.78/64 oz
  • TOTAL: $61.36
Grower's Direct:

  • Tuscan melon: $2.49
  • carnival squash: $1.67/$1.69 lb
  • lime: $0.19/0.28 lb
  • lemon: $0.28/0.35 lb
  • iceburg lettuce: $0.99/head
  • cabbage: $0.99/2.54 lb
  • Russet potatoes: $1.33/3.42 lb
  • brown onions: $0.59/1.79 lb
  • carrots: $0.71/1.83 lb
  • celery: $0.99/bunch
  • white sweet corn: $1.77/3
  • romaine lettuce: $0.99/head
  • tomatoes, red, cluster: $0.94/0.63 lb
  • yams: $1.21/1.36 lb

Grand Total: $90.52.

If I did fair planning, I won't have to make any stops this week for dinner. None at all.

110309: Crown Valley Market Place:
  • saffron, 2 g = 16.30 w/tax -- we didn't need it right away, but I couldn't pass up such a great deal!
True Grand Total: $106.82.
