
Ugh, winter sucks. It's cold even in southern CA and the apartment feels like a dungeon again. At 2:00 in the afternoon it's dark enough in the kitchen I need to have lights on. Blech.

It's a good reason to bake cheesecake though. This time I'm going to cut in some of these nuts and see if it makes a difference with the crust. Fingers crossed.

Kirkland pecan halves, available in the baking aisle at Costco for $12.99 a 2-lb bag, making each of 8 cups (can that be right?) about $1.62. Much more reasonable than the pecans from Smart and Final.
