Food Plan 101809

Last night I asked Rodney what he wanted for dinner this week if he could have anything he wanted for dinner each night. This is what I got:

  • Basil Shrimp Linguine
  • egg rolls
  • stuffed mushrooms with something cream cheesy and spinachy
  • waffles
  • crock-pot beef stew
  • pork chops, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and apple sauce
  • BLT's and split pea soup
When I asked what he wanted with the egg roll, mushroom and waffle meals, I got this final list:
  • Basil Shrimp Linguine
  • egg rolls and shrimp skewers
  • stuffed mushrooms and roast chicken
  • waffles topped with strawberries accompanied with sausage
  • crock-pot beef stew
  • pork chops, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and apple sauce
  • BLT's with yam fries
Um, I'm not feeling all that.

Growing up with a Korean mom, I think I've had my fill of making egg rolls. Shrimp skewers are good on a grill, which we don't have. I did some searching for stuffed mushroom recipes and holy crap, what a pain. Our waffle maker came with some waffle recipes, but they weren't good. And while I did make waffles enough times to concoct a decent waffle, I didn't exactly record what I did to make them good (they were way before I even considered a blog). I haven't made chops in a billion years because they are usually more expensive than what I want to spend per pound and I'm really good at fucking them up real bad.

I thought to myself that I'd integrate one part of Rodney's food plan wish list into the next few realistic plans.

This is what I have lined up for this week:
  • Basil Shrimp Linguine, an oldie but a goodie
  • Mexican-Style Butterflied Chicken (before I die, I'll make this)
  • Chianti Beef Stew with Porcini Mushrooms (not a crockpot recipe, but this will serve as one of Rodney's choices)
  • Maple-Mustard Salmon
  • Parmesan Pine Nut Stuffed Squash
And this is what I bought:

Holy shit. I need to reel it in. Last week wasn't too bad, but this is insane for two people in one week. I absolutely need to review older food plan posts and tally up monthly costs.
